Bringing PvP and PvE a little closer together.
As a preface, I'm one of those crazies who really enjoys both PvE as well as PvP.
One of the things I was thinking about yesterday was how unlocking skills in PvE makes them availible in PvP. However, unlocking something in PvP does NOT make it availible in PvP.
Basically, unless you win the Hall of Heroes, you don't get anything from PvP to enrich your PvE game. Yet, if you PvE to the fullest, you can in theory unlock everything you need for a PvP character.
I'd love to see a little more love headed the other way - it would be nice if something you did in PvP helped out your PvE game. When I think about it, perhaps that's where they're going with Factions. It sounds like it, if you get discounts on items based on whether or not your faction is leading in your territory, and things like that. I hope Anet have other, similar implementations in store.
I also like the option of doing PvE missions in PvP style.
What do you guys think?

NO
you can target that superior vigor/absorption
/x rune in a very short time with a targeted faction grab.
after you win the superior absorption rune you sell it for huge profit.
if you make it account based so you dont have a physical rune to sell you have closed out future rune sales.
runes are a major gold sink and they will not go for that idea.

As long as I (a pure pve player - pvp bores me) don't have to play pvp to unlock skills in pve, then sure. All aspects and play styles of the game could use some benefits for those that play all styles.
My thoughts on the game when I first heard about it were that pvp and pve were very seperate. Which is why I bought the game. I then learned that players have to play through the pve to unlock pvp skills and I thought it odd. I knew it was only a matter of time when someone (OP) thought of this.
I think the game types should be very seperate. Skills should be earned in pvp for pvp and same for pve. I also would love to see more exp levels in pve yet have the levels kept at 20 for balance in pvp. If nothing more than a number show with no increase in hp or att points after 20... why bother then? Just so I (the player) can say something silly like "Ooooh, I'm level 54 now! I've killed that much time already?"...
Did I make any since?... [/rambles off into silence...]

I'd like to see them segregate PVE from PVP myself not bring them closer. PVP is ruining the PVE game as it is along with ebayers and botters.

Am referring to the continous nerfs in the name of "balance" for the PVP side of the game. Also that PVP takes too much precedence in every aspect of changes to skills. Aren't you keeping up with the whines about IWAY, while in PVE this is great fun to use, but, soon I suspect for PVP's sake it will be nerfed to a worthless skill like protective bond was and several others.

Somehow I doubt they're going to do anything about IWAY. It's not like it's overpowered or anything, unlike many of the major skill balances they've done are (Ether Renewal springs to mind).
But honestly. How many times have you yourself been screwed over by a skill balance that was done because of PVP?

Protective Bond wasn't nerfed because of PVP. Your arguement is flawed.

Then there was Ranger Spirit Spamming. This was useful in pve as well. Welp that's gone.

Lol there's always a "excuse" isn't there? There's always a lopsided reason. Broken my eye it was fine until someone whined that it was "unfair" in guess what? PVP!! nobody screamed Spirit Spamming was unfair in PVE, nope it was PVP, same as IWAY is in PVP, whine whine whine and then let us talk about bots and ebay. Why were drop rates of things that used to drop so plentifully changed? Not because of PVP here, but, because of bots and Ebay, this is lovely, the one part of the game I enjoy is totally controlled by other aspects of the game PVP, Bots and Ebay. (sigh)

A "broken" skill in pvp may not be broken in pve, and vice versa. Coming from EQ and that mess AC2, I've seen a good share of nerfs versus fixes. What I've seen in GW so far and from reading the posts here; is that many of the "fixes" are indeed nerfs to the pve side of things. If anyone wants skill names and examples, just look through the posts and you'll find many.
So far I've seen people complain about nerfing the farming builds they solo with. I could care less about whether person x, y, and z farm with the uber invinsible builds and get near unlimited money by selling. My fix to that is I never, ever, buy from another player. I'll get it myself with my "army" of henchies or small group of friends. If those farming builds are nerfed it makes no difference to me. However, when a change to a skill or spell is "fixed" for the sake of pvp and it affects the pve making it nearly useless... well, then I'm miffed. This hasn't happened to me yet and I hope it doesn't.
The OP was refering to rewards and I agree with them as long as one doesn't (really shouldn't IMO) have to play one to get what they need from the other.
As a last note, I have never ever seen a fix to a skill or spell that makes a weak nearly useless one better... and many skills and spells will rarely be found on peoples skill bars for that reason. A quick example of one IoW: In PvP this may work out pretty well, but in PvE a mob just strips it off you within a second of being put there or as you engage the lynch mob.

I could've sworn I locked PvP/PvE discussion thread just yesterday, though I think that was to seperate them not to merge them...bah, either way we've had way too many of these. This section of the forums is for suggestions, well thought out, specific, ...preferably well written suggestions. Not "silly PvEers..." or anything of the sort.
